It amazes me how so many car drivers have NO F'ING IDEA how dreadfully uncompetitive their hunks of steel are against bikes which, while they have tiny engines, also weigh two-fifths of bugger all.

(OK, the slower end of the bike scale gets beaten by the faster end of the car scale, but even so)

My (bike riding) flatmate has no end of stories about racing people in cars who couldn't believe they were getting thrashed by something with a tenth of the engine capacity.
