I'm sick- not completely sick, just an annnoying something that's made my kidneys ache and turned sleep into a sweaty 8-hour psychedelic trip. Last night, for instance, I became convinced that I must not let any portion of my blanket hang off the edge of the bed, and I'd wake every 5 minutes to check. I'm also constantly thirsty, which means I have to go pee 3 or 4 times a night. Grrr. Oh and my arthritis is back, in my right thumb. Hurrumph.

A week too late!!

Mt Augustine blew its top at 4.20 this morning, one week after I left Anchorage. I was rather hoping it would blow while I was there, shutting down the airport and leaving me helplessly stranded for a couple of months but noooooo... Would someone please go slap that bitch volcano for me?

Alaska Volcano Observatory, Augustine site. (not yet updated but they do have a webcam. I see ash. Lots of ash.)
