"First day of my life" by Bright Eyes is making me all sappy and happy. I love the video, and the song has me bopping along and wishing I could play guitar.

Thanks, Grant! I'd heard about Bright Eyes and the Saddle Creek sound since moving here last year - and now that you've pointed the way (all the way from Auckland, no less!) I think I'll just have to become a fan.

That was lovely! And great to see John Cameron Mitchell (who did the marvellous 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch') directing the video, too.

This song makes me weepy. The first time I saw the video I made it to the part where the woman's holding the picture and, filling in the blanks with all the worst possible reasons, I completely lost it. Now I'm watching it again and I realize it's a fucking head shot from some actor. Poop.

And, because one recommendation deserves another: Cat Power's "Crossbones Style"

its amazing how the melody makes you feel one way, then seeing the visual and have that reinforce the feelings.
like bleepkeeper, i lost it on several scenes, the women smiling at each other, and looking at the elderly woman sitting alone. the whole thing is powerful.
*thankyou for sharing it*
