Today will be expensive.

That's a knock sensor off a 4AGZE. It's not normally in two pieces like that. Toyota retail: $360. Aftermarket retail: are you mad? I'm not replacing a critical part, one that stops my engine from melting its own pistons, with an aftermarket part.

That's my phone, primary email and web browsing device, and my digital brain. Come to think of it, that's what my actual brain looked like the other night, but it seemed to have put itself together by morning. Not so with this wee beastie. Replacement (shiny, updated, smaller, better, faster, more replacement): $400.

ow ow ow ow ow.

Oh, and in case you're wondering? Yes, the phone did break when I put it in my pocket along with the broken knock sensor. You can laugh now- I know I am.

I'm happy to use aftermarket bulbs and the like (where the consequences of premature failure are not high) but NO BLOODY WAY on something as vital as a knock sensor. /Especially/ on an overboosted engine.
