Squee!!

Brian sent me underpants! And porno! And Lost! And some batteries and power adaptors and some bubble wrap and a freakin laptop.

And not an Apple though, rather a Dell Inspiron 700m, which is some kind of sigh of resignation I guess.

I am so in love right now. I can has batteries that charge, and WiFi that works without having to slam the lid shut a couple times to jiggle the antennas, and a screen that knows when it's closed and turns itself off, and USB2 and 200% more processor and no more annoying little blue nipple for driving the mouse.

Shhhhh. Dude, it's just a 3-year-old laptop. :-)

Oh, and one of those batteries... shouldn't be used for processor-intensive tasks during a heatwave on top of your duvet. It's one of the recalled ones with the Sony cells that are prone to thermal runaway and exploding into flames. So keep it cool. The other battery was a replacement for it, but they didn't *require* the original back, and well, it works and never exploded for me.

In two weeks you can compare it with Brian's Other Old Laptop, the trusty aluminium PowerBook G4, when [livejournal.com profile] sunsmogseahorse arrives. He didn't get any underpants with his, though. (The Dell is 2x faster, actually, but Ted wisely prefers MacOS. The PowerBook saw a lot more wear and tear than the Dell, for some reason.)

Ahhhhh... Toujours l'amour.

The giving of the gentlemen caller's old laptop is a big sign.

That still makes it 3 years newer than the poor old Toshiba. I'm currently file and settings transfer wizarding all my crap. Woo! I'm not particularly confident it'll manage it successfully though. We'll see.

Oh, I wouldn't trust the File and Settings Transfer Wizard to guess my weight.

Last time I used it, it skipped 180mb of Outlook email stored in the *standard* place. Utterly retarded.
