PURGE

Photobucket

Moving house is great- a fantastic chance to purge all the cruft and trinkets that have been accumulated over the years. I'm not a huge cruft collector, but between the amusing christmas presents and the random travel purchases it all builds up. (digress: Why is it that people insist on giving commemorative candles, localised key fobs and embossed wine openers when they *know* I'd be delighted by a decent quality half-inch drive ratchet, or a nice phillips screwdriver? /digress)

Anyway. This heap of trash is mostly comprised of CD jewel cases. You know, those plastic things CDs come in before you rip them to MP3 and toss them back in the drawer, never to be looked at again.

The rest is stuff I haven't seen or used in the last year. My sentimental inner voice was hollering as I sorted through most of it, but it's too late now. Gone baby gone. Woohoo!

one of the best parts of moving is the opportunity/excuse to get rid of stuff. i didn't do that so much with my current move, but in the past i've really enjoyed shedding unnecessary possessions...

I love it. It feels so good to just ignore your freaking out packrat side and let it all go.

Mind you, leaving all your possesions in the care of friends for 3 months is kind of an incentive to make sure you have as little as possible.
