boofbiker and I decided to stay at a nice hotel for his last couple of nights here: its a bit of a tradition for him to end a holiday with a bit of luxury (and god knows, my flat is pretty grim) and so we booked into the Carlton here in Auckland. Wotif.com had some great rates, $215/night for a nice room and access to the executive lounge. However, we come to check-in and who should be behind the counter but Philip, a lovely shy bear I know from Bears nights, and part of my circle of friends. He recognised me, checked Boof out, and (being the manager) upgraded us to a suite. A
balcony suite. There is no penthouse in this hotel, but if there were it would be called
Balcony Suite. Spa bath, lounge, gigantic bed, more space than my entire *house* (almost)
So we're happy, a $1030/night room for $215. Now all we have to do is invent some reason why the manager has to come to our room personally... heh heh :-)
