Well my advice (as I sit in SF airport waiting for my flight home), pack as little as possible, its hot here, had the blast chiller in my room at Paris Hiltons Motel on the lowest setting to keep cool. Also, clear as much space on your credit card as possible, once you get here, you go into Russian Refugee mode, buying all these shiny things you cant get at home. Each visit to Dudley Perkins Harley-Davidson notched up US$300 a visit. Now do try and make it out of the bedroom if thats at all possible, it is a lovely city and you just have to reserve some time and just be a tourist.
