The weekend that was...
Mar. 15th, 2004 08:42 amSaturday: TeAroha Domain day and TeAroha races. Dont ask what the domain day was all about, because someone read the flyer wrong and drove to the domain to check it out before realising that its actually NEXT weekend...
The races, however, were fun. The local Ford dealer had invited Rick and Mo to his marquee, and laid on a big barbeque and beer- we bought our own beer because technically Ronald and I werent invited, but I doubt anyone would have minded... Except Ronlad who, for some reason, prefers becks to Lion Red. Funny aussies.... ;-) (For the record I was drinking Macs Blonde so I shouldnt be too antagonistic...) I got to meet more of the locals and some of Ricks friends (apparently his secretary knows his true D.O.B, I will have to be very nice to her... but maybe I dont want to know?) Richie from Chch called and we had a nice chat, shouting to hear each other above the public address system...
Overheard; exasperated father "If you dont start behaving, we'll go straight home."
Grass-stained and tear-streaked daughter: "but I WANT to go home!!"
Actually that sounds a bit like what happened to us- Morris, Ronald and I merrily chugging back the beers when Rick decides he's bored and wants to go home. With a short stop at the icecream van on the way out, of course. :-)
Saturday night was a bit strained- Rick and Morris both grumpy and out of sorts, Ronald and I hiding on the couch watching telly. Although I dont recall what was on... Hmmm.... too many beers I think.
Sunday and everyone was feeling a lot better- Saffy took us for a run around the lake while Rick went off for a long ride on the Harley. A late lunch and some pottering in the garden, a roast dinner at the pub, and an early night...
And awake at 5am for the drive back to Auckland. I made it out of TeAroha by 5.15 this time, and so missed the usual traffic jams... I got here at 7am and straight into work- I have to pick
debxena up from the hospital sometime this morning, so I wanted to at least appear to have done some work before I go...
