Spent 4 hours last night figuring out why the newly-installed DSL at home isnt. 2 modems, 4 cables, and 3 trips to work to test it on our working DSL I have come to the conclusion that there is no DSL on the line at home. Neither (known working) modem can find a DSL signal.
Calls ISP helpdesk- Helpdork's advice? "its because youve got DHCP turned on. Turn off the DHCP server in the router and configure your IP address manually and itll work"
??!?!?
Thats like running out of petrol and having the AA serviceman say "its because youve got an automatic- install a stickshift and itll work" - yes, the network is critical part of the system, but its not the part with the problem.
So I read a book instead.
Heard this morning about
debxena's flat being burgled on friday night- the thieves took mostly jewellery, some of it of great personal value to Deb. I hope it turns up...
