Bike goodness
Feb. 4th, 2006 11:46 pmOk, since the bike is all cleaned up and shiny, and I have replaced the hideous pink handlebars with proper chrome ones, here's a few pics Alan managed to snap while I was stopped for 5 minutes.

Me, looking very happy. And a little sunburned, which is what happens when you're outside all day cleaning and servicing a bike that's been a little neglected (by my standards, at least)

So there she is. Things left to do: install the alarm I bought off TradeMe, repaint the rusting rear exhaust header, and fit a new chain (I found 3 siezed links on the current chain. Eee! not good.) Once that's done I think we're looking at a $5000 bike. Fan-bloody-tastic.
I had a great time riding around with the new handlebars, they're higher and a little more swept back than the pink ones, which is much more comfortable. I'm constantly surprised by the performance you get from a little V-twin. I stomped all over a lad on a legendary '88 GSXR250RR slingshot, which surprised me as much as it did him- I guess they did make a few advances to small bikes in the last 10 years! Though I'm told the NZ new VTR250s only make 35hp, whereas my japanese version should be putting 44 ponies between my legs.
