Its been a long weekend...
Apr. 23rd, 2006 01:01 pmI fitted new wheel bearings to the bike on Friday- the old ones were knackered, and the rear wheel had a good 1/4" of play at the tyre. The problem is that I'd got used to the rear wheel doing its own thing, bumps during cornering just deflecting the wheel a bit and not the bike. But now I can feel the wheel squirming under me in the twisties- it's great to be able to feel all that stuff again, but a little disconcerting too.
Saturday was thoroughly civilised. I arose at 11 and spent the day in the company of some lovely friends, drinking beer and looking at the view of the harbour bridge and Rangitoto beyond. And imagining what it will be like when it erupts again. Lovely.
Mauri played to a small crowd at Urge- for some reason few people turned up until later, when Seymour took over and once again rocked the place with his dark and sleazy tunes. Turnout wasn't as spectacular as last time, but the place got steamed up, the dance floor was constantly full, and everyone had a great time. Thankyou Mr. Seymour Buttz! It seems Auckland still loves you! Raj came on at 3am and kept everyone going with some funky wee tracks, and our lighting specialist (someone I've not met before who found the dancefloor lighting panel and played it like a piano all night long) did a great job. Now to get a timer on the smoke machine...
