Jun. 18th, 2006 02:18 pmAfter an unintentionally long night Friday night, I had to drag myself out of bed yesterday to go stand in the antarctic cold outside Urge to play doorman. I didnt mind at all, I really enjoy greeting all the boys as they come in.
In a stunning piece of scheduling, Alan and Paul put on a sports kit night on the same night as the All Blacks were playing Ireland. So I had the fun job of figuring out if the approaching group of rugby-themed boys trying to get into the bar were gay, or just curious. I let in a few obviously gay lads who came running back out seconds later. "It's a fuckin gay bar!" says one.
Hilight of the night was the straight couple: He in a smart shirt and nice pants, she with attractive blonde hair and a shiny trench coat. "Excuse me, does this gay bar have lesbians? We're looking for lesbians." Paul explained that, though it could be hard to tell at times, there were no lesbians in Urge, and their best bet was Family bar down the road.
In all a good night. I got home around 3am and warmed myself by snuggling with the bear, who was fast asleep. Its about time to get up and go do some things I think!
