Partition hell

Here's a hint: NEVER format a 2GB memory card in an older Casio camera. While the camera recognises and can use existing 2GB partitions, the formatting software in the camera only supports 1GB.
The result of doing such a thing? A partitioned card. The problem? Microsoft doesnt think a removable device should be partitionable, and so disables the partition management tools for said devices. I can see the unallocated space, I just cant do anything with it. And Diskman.co.uk is down, arrgh!!
Currently downloading 'the ultimate bootable CD' because it contains a copy of Diskman 4.0. What a kerfuffle, and all so I could subject Alan to 200 hours of distressing music on his MP3 player.
UPDATE: after futzing with FDISK, boot disks, and other annoying command-line apps, I found the HP USB Disk Storage Formatting Tool, which fixed it, just like that. Hurrah for third-party software with no respect for partitions!
