Finally got to meet the lovely [livejournal.com profile] whataruckus and Rob, his man. Both spunky wuffy studs, both suave and charming, both twisted as fuck. Woohoo!!

And banana cream pie, and cogars, and shabu shabu. And more warm cuddles wedged in between Robbie and Fish. *sigh* I wish I could stay here for ALL 3 weeks of my holiday, but I'm 'on call' for the last week and must be in Auckland. Which, to me, doesnt equal a holiday at all.

Yes, I'm bitter and angry, but only when I think about it. Time for retail therapy. MMmm wranglers...

Today's been about relaxing- Robbie left to go back to Guerneville this morning, Chris and Rob stayed around long enough for a short discussion on the psychological aspects of knife play, and then Fish and I zipped off to Vallejo for shopping.

Mmmm shopping...

Vallejo is home to the incredible (to my poor Kiwi eyes at least) Victory army surplus store- miles and miles of inadequately lit and shoddily constructed shelving, sagging under the weight of Carhartt, Dickies and Ben Davis workwear. You know, the stuff that over here is blue-collar workwear, but in New Zealand is $95-per-shirt high end fashion. And it's obvious why: heavy fabrics, great cuts, strong as all hell.

So I spent and I spent and I got happy. Orange shirts. black pants. Brown pants. More shirts. US$250. Ouch, but so SO worth it. (And it just occurred to me that the last time I bought clothing for myself was at that very store over a year ago. Hmm. Clotheshorse I am not.)

On the way home we stopped at in-n-out burgers (No2, animal style) and the Homo Depot (soldering iron, solder, micro torx screwdrivers).

Once home again I set about disturbing Fish in new and interesting ways. Like setting down Robbies iBook and dismantling it utterly while the soldering iron heated up beside me. fish had to go hide in the bedroom so he couldnt see what I was doing or hear my anticipated grunts of surprise as various parts went *ping*. However, the operation went smoothly and was a complete success: the patient now has a repaired power socket, and is happily charging batteries again as I type. Pretty orange glow, though totally not worth the $145 a repair centre would have charged for 15 minutes work.

And now: steak. And an early night. For tomorrow we may be catching puppies: apparently Lhamo has steam whistling out of her ears, and her crossed legs are starting to quiver with the effort of keeping- what, 7? 8? 12? more? puppies inside.
