Lhamo's about to pop. Erik went to measure her temperature and squealed when it came back at 97.8- way lower than it was yesterday (or the last 2 weeks, judging by the copious entries all over the blackboard)

Grass Valley is as relaxing and friendly as ever- the boys sure know how to make a kiwi lad feel welcome, with shootin', cocktails, jacuzzi'n, snackin' and fuckin'. Not neccesarily in that order though. *grin*

Puppywatch pt2

Erik's poring over the bible: Breeding Dogs for dummies, ofering insights like "On rare occasions a female whelping her first litter may be totally surprised by the arrival of her first puppy, and will only look at it in complete amazement" ...while her two daddies squeal and hyperventilate nearby, most likely. :-)

You know it wasa fun night when you find paper towels all over the playroom, the stripper pole is bent, and the upturned sling has a can of CheezWiz next to it...

And the Bears Gone Wild Gerbil Ranch and Spa has a new guest: one black female pup, heartily squalling and crying while Momma looks confused. Proud Pappas- not to mention top ER team- are beaming and excitable. 17.6oz.

UPDATE: 1715: and one boy, at 14.6oz and louder than his sister. Momma's getting the hang of it. Erik and Brent are still beaming.

1751: Black female with white spot on chest. 15.8oz. Not so loud, but Lhamo delivered, cleaned and tidied this one all on her own. Good girl!!

Bad homosexuals

Robbie just pointed out that we are terrible homosexuals: it's New Years eve, and we're at a whelping party, blogging furiously and not even drinking.

Though I guess it's for the best- can you imagine "Here comes puppy number five, and my E just kicked in!!! Ooohh!! I LURVE the puppies..."

So no, we're being sensible, emotion is running high enough without additional stimulants (I have to keep going to the bathroom to have a quiet snuffle), and I cant think of a more wonderful way of welcoming in the new year.

And yes, further deliveries WILL be liveblogged. I have 16 hours left in this battery...

It seems pup number 1, the female, may well be a lesbian as she keep sforsaking the teat and trying to climb back inside. Or maybe its just cold out here.

This update comes to you directly from the whelping room at the Bears Gone Clucky Gerbil Ranch and Spa. Lhamo continues to do well, she's figured out that whenever she has a contraction she gets lots of attention from everyone, which may explain why its been a while since the last pup. Also, having given birth to 4 of them, she has much less pressure and inclination to spit out the rest.

2112: He's a boy!! Fresh out of Lhamo's engorged vulva, he took a bit of spanking and encouragement before he burst into lusty life, but at 13.2oz he has a lot of growing to do. He's already latched to momma's teat though, he should be fine :-)

not many to go now, we missed gettin a photo of Erik reading "pup birthing for dummies" but the adorable sqeaking and hungry slurping of 6 fuzzy wee pups is keeping everyone happy and giggling.

Judging by how dialted her pupils are, Lhamo's having the time of her life. Her daddies, on the other hand, are tight wee knots of excited anticipation, happily slurping gin and tonics and counting placentas. Lets just hope they dont get mixed up...
