What a fucking day.

Lots of wee jobs on the go, like Mikey's invites, cleaning cars, fixing laptops, fixing electric gate motor, finalising the bear sash, stocking the bar, defrosting the ice maker, and pricing up the materials to cast some truly scarey garden leprechauns.

Nothing like a bit of variety. Nothing like everything going slightly wrong and taking hours longer than you expected. Grrr.

Dear miss manners:

When is an appropriate time to let an acquaintance know that one will be, or is already regretfully, late for an appointment?

One would think that telephoning the instant one realised one's error would be the ideal time, but it seems that recently I have experienced people calling 10, 20 or even 30 minutes late- and not to apologise, but to reschedule.

Is this the modern state of manners we must learn to accept? Or is it a consequence of these self-Involved times w live in, in which no-ones time is worth more than one's own?

Kindly yours,
Growler
