In contrast to Saturday night, last night's underwear party was a dream. I'm still awed by how damn *easy* it was- no stress, no fuss, everyone just working quickly and smartly and enjoying themselves.

And this despite things that normally would have made the evening a trial: drunk party-crashers were smoothly rotated 180 degrees and left to wander back outside, to the huge amusement of the crowd. People waiting for a chance to come in were given the task of keeping an eye on gatecrashers, and did so with fervour, making the doorman's job so much easier. The drug-crazed homeless guy out the front throwing traffic cones at the steel gate was a little alarming, but Mike fended him off calmly until the police arrived (in record time) and chased the homeless guy down the street.

We just couldnt put a foot wrong: The bar was set up perfectly, with everything we needed in just the right place and in the right quantities. Nothing broke, fell, failed or blew away. We kept an eye on which beers were moving fastest, anticipated the need for more stock in plenty of time, and had it chilling in ice buckets. The bar stayed clean and tidy with no random boxes or tubs to trip over, and the three of us behind the bar (Mikey, Alan, and myself) danced around each other all night long, serving multiple customers at once, and grinning all the while. Customers were relaxed and respectful, happy and smiling, and thrilled to help out by carrying bottles, taking messages, taking out the trash. Mauri rocked the dancefloor and kept them dancing till 4am. No clothing was lost (that didnt want to be lost). I didn't have to run, rush, or raise my voice all night, and neither did anyone else.

And the best bit? We made more last night than any underwear party ever before, more like a New Years party than an underwear night. And this on the night after a successful party night.

It seems the entire Urge community was ready for a fun time and made it happen. A hearty pat on the back to everyone involved, staff and customers alike- let's make the next one just as good!
