Dilemma

2 possible flats:
#1, small room, own shower, large modern house with tile floors. Room opens onto lounge, so may be noisy. Room is at back of house and under upstairs bathroom. Sharing with 4 others and small child. $125/week plus about $35/week expenses ($160/week) as I'd need to pay for my own internet access. plus travel costs- its 10 minutes drive from the CBD, I'd be driving to work every day for sure. Taxi to the house is about $15.

#2, very VERY small room in a sleepout in a quiet, tree-filled back yard. I'd need to be creative with my furniture choices but I've lived in smaller. Walking distance to work, CBD. $80/week, internet existing.

I'm definitely leaning towards the $80/week room... my own space, close to town, compact and cosy, and $45/week less than the other.

Looks like room #2 is sold: this morning I dreamed it had toads living under the floor and around the propery. Of course we dont have toads in NZ and I never dreamed of them before, so its a good sign (if a little obvious- my subconscious is getting sloppy. Or frustrated with my lack of attention.)

Or you could buy a nice big house and I could come live with you.

Number 2. There's no small child to get into your J-Lube.

Yup. I don't know what the Growler's tolerance for children is, but mine is very low.

Funnily enough, my tolerance for children is pretty high, despite not having a great deal of interest in having any of my own. Go figure.

They both sound pretty dire...

My priorities have changed- I no longer see myself living here forever, and so there's no longer any need to live in the perfect house with all the consumer toys. All I need is cheap and clean. Besides I always loved the compact Japanese apartment and reckon I could do a killer line in space-efficient funiture. There's no time like now to practise...

#2. Small, Cheap and Convenient Easy. What is not to like? ;)

I wanna live @ $80/week!

Is there enough room for your Jornada?

[identity profile] growler-south.livejournal.com 2005-09-20 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Barely... it really is tiny. But I love a challenge! and the excuse to build furniture again is the icing on the cake. Now to find a garage and room to work... Daaaaad!!

[identity profile] f8n-begorra.livejournal.com 2005-09-20 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
#2 for sure and the extra $45/week for the travel/Jagermeister fund.

Just you wait till you see how small it is... i'm gonna have to be SO space-efficient, but theres no way I'm giving up my king-size futon. And its the perfect excuse to buy a flat-panel TV ;-)

I thought part of the idea was to save money? :)

For me, having something to plug my future Xbox 360 into that can take advantage of its hi-def output is the perfect excuse :)
