Weekend update

Oh dear, that was a busy weekend indeed.
Bears night friday followed by an early start saturday to replace the front suspension on my poor ailing car. Replacing the suspension went surprisingly smoothly, and now my old Piazza sports new knuckle joints and bearings all round, as well as 10" disks at the front and an uprated anti-roll bar. Now it tracks precisely and corners clean and flat, though braking mid-corner makes it pitch a little more as the big ARB fights with the live axle. (braking mid-corner in a Piazza was always a foolish thing to do anyway, so its not such a huge deal)

Saturday evening was spent getting drunk in a friend's lovely house mansion, which led to a reluctat start sunday morning... but I had to get up as I'd promised Mum and Dad we'd go computer shopping. Which we did, with great results. They now have a lovely new Asus laptop and carry bag, all at much reduced price thanks to my mate Craig in the Takapuna store.

Sunday afternoon- oh dear. A small Tapas restaurant, 9 bottles of wine and some very surprised wait staff later ("We'll just have four of everything on the menu, thanks!" "Are you MAD... sir?") and we were staggering down to David and Pauls place to sit in the sun and enjoy the company. And, incidentally, a further 12 bottles of wine. It all went rather rapidly downhill until there were just a few of us left, bobbing in the spa pool (face UP, thanks Mr. Barrymore) and having drunken deep-n-meaningfuls.

How I made it home I'm not sure- managing to coherently tell the taxi driver where I lived was a feat, but not as difficult as remembering where I lived in the first place. It was as I fell into bed that the phone rang and Erich, quite possibly as sloshed as I was, proceeded to make my night by making me part of his party. What an awesome way to end a fab weekend.

I'm not touching a drop until next friday- the thought of alcohol is making me distinctly queasy right now...

TWENTY ONE bottles of wine?! For how many people?!?!!

Not as much so as with an alcohol-equivalent amount of beer, but still y'all must have been needing to piss every 90 seconds!

Wellll... at 2.30pm at the Tapas bar, and later at David and Paul's there were 9 of us, but the number reduced as the afternoon drew on- there were 7 at 5pm, then 5 at 7pm, then four at 10pm. The empty bottles by the door were a sight to behold!

Okay, it's not as if 3 or 4 of you put all that away without any help....

I rarely drink much - I won't drink if I have to ride or drive later, and I don't much care for drinking alone. Thus, the only times one is at all likely to see me schnockered is up on the Badger Flat run around the campfire, or at some event (say, Up Your Alley in SF) where the bar is in staggeringwalking distance of my room....

Its good to hear your crash course in Wine Country Living has been useful. Sounds like Erich might have used the training too. Nothing like a mutual vice to bring people together!!!
