I visited NZ back in the mid 80s. A very beautiful country, with very friendly people. We drove around the South Island for 2 weeks or so and I had a great time. It was very interestin to see many of the plants we use in landscapin in their native habitat. I traveled with my then partner and his parents who had sailed their boat from San Fransisco to New Zealand - it's funny but everywhere we went people thought we were Canadians.

On the way back we stopped in Fiji for a few days and drove entirely around the island. The Native Fijians really took a likin to me - I think it was the beard and hair, but the Indians [or are they Pakastani?] didn't like me at all - I had several confrontations with them.
