Fun with Linux...

I've been having a great time today trying to get Knoppix live Linux CD to partition my CF card. I've come to the conclusion that it just doesnt like my card reader, and I'll have to try at home with a different reader.

I have, however, had a lot of fun relearning Unix. Or, at least, realising just how advanced Linux is compared to the old Irix I was used to barely able to use.

And if I can get it running on my spare Jornada I'll have a full-featured Linux machine in my pocket, which means a modern browser, email, and other software. Oh, sorry, Linux people call them "packages". I do like a good package.

If Knoppix won't hack it, there's always Ubuntu, Kubuntu or Xubuntu. ;)

I don't think there is a PDA edition of Ubuntu :) Not enough space on most of them for it. So Knoppix is the best one and it runs on Jornada :)

I'm only using Knoppix on my home PC to format my CF card so I can install the 720 degrees version of Debian.
