I just pulled off the old water pump, and it seems the previous owner was entirely retarded: the poor thing is caked with silicon poo. No wonder the head gasket clogged up and failed. For the record, nothing on a 4AGE requires sealant of any kind. It's all graphite compound gaskets, spring steel gaskets, and o-rings.

At least the engine comes apart easily this time, and it's very clean...

Oh and I found where my cylinder head is cracked. It's fairly obvious. Photos coming soon.

Scraper, wire brush and lots of elbow grease. Mmm elbow grease...
