I replaced the stolen badge on the front of the MR2 yesterday- bought a couple of generic Toyota roundels from a wrecker, flattened them out using the heat gun (to match the ruler-straight bonnet), and ground out the rust that was lurking beneath the old badge. Primer over the metal, apply an oval piece of vinyl to prettify it, and then the new badge on top using trim tape.
Easy peasy.
It looks awful. There's a 1990- badge on my 1987 car. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but until then it's just not right.

When I had my Alfasud Ti the same thing happened to me and I couldn't find the correct badge either. Everyone else thought it looked OK but I just knew it was wrong. BTW you got a pic of your MR2 to show off?
