Brian's taken to calling my phone the 'Judas Phone'.
I did, however, get Google Maps to use the 'my location' feature. This triangulates from local cell towers to deduce your approximate location without using GPS. It's pretty damn clever and works really quickly.
Apparently I'm currently in Northern Taiwan.
