The Escort finally had its rear brakes replaced today- if theres one thing Ford can do right its engineering. Or, at least, they could in 1978 in the UK. Which is in itself fairly impressive.
Expecting a rusty, seized, unco-operative mess of British Leyland proportions, you can only imagine my surprise when the flares on the brake lines came loose with a crisp 'pop', the small bolts holding the cylinders in place fairly spun themselves out, and the new brake shoes and cylinders snapped into place- perfect replacements for the old original parts. (Original parts: 30 years and 50,000miles old. Somewhat out of their warranty period.)
I'll break them in tomorrow on the drive home...
