Um, the price? Dell 20" widescreen display, about $550 [when on sale - last week, for example]. Apple 20" widescreen display, about $1,000. Amount saved by going with the Dell == almost enough to buy a Mac mini.

The price, exactly. And the NEC/Mitsubishi we got recently has a much more flexible stand in terms of how you can position the display.

Price has nothing to do with nice factor, just affordability. gb's post implied he didn't like the screens themselves rather than the price (which I agree with FTR).

Well, I don't like so-called "widescreen" LCDs to begin with; the price just adds another annoyance factor.

I certainly wouldn't want to play games on one, but they're good for movies. I'm not fussed either way for desktop use.

And lets not forget that not so long ago the screens were so damned ugly I just about puked looking at one (ie the old pinstriped look).
