Beyond the 'vague ache and dry mouth' hangover, beyond the 'debilitating headache' hangover, even beyond the 'migraine-like vomitous incapacitating' hangover, there is another level.

This hangover is the one where you cant decide if you're hung over, sick, or just still drunk. Relatively normal activity (talking, working, appearing sober) is possible in small, exhausting bursts, but most of the time you're just wondering if death can really be all that bad.

Best way to avaoid a hangover besides not drinking. is have water through out the drinking festivities. You sounded ok on the phone. hehe I hope I didnt speak to loud...
