In one of the quiet corners [of Peru] is the world renowned potato hunter; Carlos Ochoa, justifiably called the Indiana Jones of the potato. Turning his back on the comforts of family and city life, the 75 year old has tramped through South America for the last forty years in search of the perfect potato. In this time he has frequently had to brave bandits, guerrilla's and freezing temperatures , but has also discovered 80 new wild potato species.

Believe it or not it really is to have the original wild species from which our cultivated crops descended in the gene bank. If something came along and wiped them out...and it's happened...we'll need those.

I'm assuming those are spud bandits he avoided. Bands of brigands and cuthroats who would have your life for a King Edward.

I like potatoes a lot but to travel the world seems a bit to much for me. Also I find it scary that you know this. You do get out side don't you? You don't just surf the net looking for weird points of topic. LOL
