Sunday: Boof is a windup toy- and I found his winder. After a half-hour or so of non-stop pounding (yes, I was just about dead from exhaustion but I wasn't slowing up) a huge spasm ripples through his body and he leaps forward as if launched from a cannon. "what did you do that for, do you want a break?" "no", he said, "I don't know why that happened, it wasn't ME that did it.." *giggle giggle* Monday: Denial wil get you nowhere Boof, as you did it again this morning- though only a little bit this time.

-----------
The silver BMW sped past us in the inside lane, the young driver using the car's handling and power to full advantage as she sliced and diced her way through the heavy traffic. Being on the bike we of course caught up with her at every traffic light. A BMW may be fast, I thought, but even a powerful late-model 328ci coupe was no match for an 1100cc motorbike. Until she noticed us- Boof took off from one set of lights a little faster than her, and instantly her attention was on us. The next lights led onto the motorway, and as we sat facing the red glow she was determinedly not looking at us. The lights went green, Boof dropped the clutch and was off the mark like lightning. Except the BMW was quicker. Not even marginally quicker- we were comprehensively thrashed. I'm impressed. I want one. Though the Piazza will be faster once its finished. Once its finished .Which may take a while.

Hell, I do that in my Civic - at least around here, the BMW is almost entirely a status symbol; most of the people driving them have absolutely no clue as to how to take advantage of the machine.

In fact, one misty day I was winding my way down Cahuenga past the Hollywood Bowl, and had a jerkwit in a Porsche Boxter acting impatient behind me - until we hit a twisty part which my Civic and Bridgestone Turanzas handled beautifully - and when I came out into the straight again, the Boxter was way back. Now, I know the car could handle that road, and I know the stock tires on a Boxter could handle that road - so clearly the driver was a clueless fuckwipe.

Indeed. I had a similar experience in my Mini- BMC MInis can go around any corner at any speed and not fall off the road. Theyre that good. Unfortunately the fuckwad in the MR2 that was right up my tail didnt get it as we twisted through the forest. So after a while of me driving briskly and him refusing to overtake or back off, I simply went around a slippery (but familiar) 35km/h corner doing 90km/h. I do recall being surprised that the Mini drifted a little and needed a touch of opposite-lock to correct (usually only neccesary on gravel roads) which kind of hinted I was approaching her limits. The MR2 didnt follow me any more- in fact, I didnt see it again. Now an MR2 isnt a *terrible* handler, the guy driving just didnt know what he was doing...

Heh. I'm currently a lapsed member of the MR2 Owners' Club, but I can tell you there's the odd person there who has absolutely no idea what they're doing and thinks that owning a car that handles well means they can drive teh fast with impunity.

Now I'm not the world's most expert driver, but that fits nicely with my reasons for owning said car, which is that it allows me to drive the car fast enough to be having fun without being particularly close to my limits and without being remotely close to the car's limits...

Oh, and the chick driving the BMW was *good*. She was reading the traffic well into the distance and using the car's power and handling to full advantage. She was getting through traffic almost as quickly as we were, and driving very smoothly and confidently...

she was getting through traffic well but she was also a tad pushy. she was getting up to close to people and being aggressive. If one car changed lanes quickly or jumped on the brakes I think she would be stuffed. Mind you if I had a car like that I might be driving like that as well. Thank god I only have 2 wheels
