My lovely blue Nokia 8250 soiled itself unexpectedly on Friday. It rang and I looked at the screen just in time to see it go a lovely tartan black: criss-cross stripes an expression of some disastrous internal haemorrahge. The backlight is still on, it still works, but the screen is dead. I turned it off before any new SMS arrived and began pounding at Google for a replacement. 20 minutes and $200 later I had a shiny new Nokia 6100, SIM card swapped, up and running and back in action with all my phone numbers transferred.

Mmmmm shiny toys
The best bit? It's Tri-band so I can use it in the US later this year, whereas my 8250 was only dual-band. Its also marginally smaller and substantially lighter, and I can receive images on it (though having no camera of its own means I cant send any)

Date: 2005-06-15 02:23 am (UTC)Besides then I'd have to copy all my phone numbers onto a piece of that dead-tree stuff and carry it around with me. Ick. I'm not even sure I know how to hold a pen any more, let alone use it to make letters.
