Turned on the fridge's wireless networking card today, and lo and behold I did not have wireless networking. How unexpected. Paddy's been happily surfing a local unsecured wireless network all week, and I thought I would get in on the action.

It seems that PackardBell helpdesk is about as helpful as the owners manual- and so I wasnt surprised when I heard the 'technician' leafing through the same book I had read this morning. I asked to be transferred to someone who knew something about computers please, and, after a 20 minute game of 'transfer the difficult customer' i ended up speaking to a REAL technician. You know, someone with a screwdriver, a brain, and an interest in fixing things.

He hasnt fixed it yet. Everything is working just fine, except the keyboard shortcut to turn the wireless LAN card's radio on doesnt work.

aargh.

Oh how silly of me, I simply needed to install the 'scroll bar manager' first. Because as everyone knows, a scroll-bar manager is an integral part of wireless networking.

Would the owner of an unsecured access point called "RTA300UW" in the Newton area please stop using their internet, I'm trying to download a mere gigabyte of porn and you're slowing me down...
