NEW TOYS!!
Aug. 20th, 2006 07:08 pmI've been vaguely looking for a replacement for the sprite, something small, nimble, and fun. One of the cars I've had in mind has been a Mk1 MR2, though I've always been aware that the standard version isnt really worth owning. Sure it's fun and fast, but in terms of resale value the ONLY MR2 to get is the Mk1 jap-spec supercharged edition, and there's about 4 of them in NZ.
And one of them is now mine.

0-100kph in 6.5 seconds. Handling that would put a go-kart to shame. Light, precise, responsive, it's even economical when I resist the seductive 'supercharger on' light in the dashboard. The only computers in it are concerned with making the engine run as well as possible: no traction control, ABS, or stability control. There's nothing more perfect for me this side of a Lotus Elise. I'm bouncing off the walls. And frequently, as I learn to drive it properly, the rev limiter.
I spent much of today baiting boy racers in their tunermobiles. Does that make me a bad Growler?
I'm not telling Alan and Paul either, I want to hear Paul squeal when he sees it. Shhhh!!
