You know those times when I get down, a little morose and phobic, and just want to lock myself away (and beat myself up for it), well.. this isnt one of those times. In fact, I'd almost swear this was the opposite.

It's good to be back. I've been largely happy over the last few years but not quite like this. This is my usual operating mode, and I like it.

I think I figured it out though: I'm not in love with anyone any more. I'm in love with everyone (some more than others, to be honest) but it's thrilling to be surrounded by so many friends and lovers, with no agenda but to share the ride.

Decay was to be expected in a 20 year old car, and the MR2, it turns out, is no exception. An effort to realign the driver's door (sagged a touch over its 200,000km) saw me removing the front guard, then the door, and then noticing the large pile of leaves and dirt that had collected in one hidden corner of the wheel well. Piles of leaves and dirt in a car are never a good thing, and this particular pile has done it's worst to the metal beneath. Eeek!

Luckily this car was built by clever Mr Toyota, who saw fit to include drain holes and primer between the outer cosmetic panel (the one that now sports a 2" square rust hole) and the inner structural panels. The inner panels are untouched, phew!

A bit of grinding, some etch primer and a splodge of bog and it should be as good as new. Better, even, as I'm going to cut a big hole in the plastic panel which catches all those leaves. Never again!

And then, of course, I have to check the other side. Eeeek!
