Dec. 26th, 2006 06:55 pmBack to Napa we go, and Robbie and Fish's cosy house feels as much like home as ever. The rain is pattering outside, the house is warm and the champagne cold. Robbie's zonked out on the floor, snoring already... *sigh* so happy to be here.
I think I had the most fabulous christmas in years. The dinner went without a hitch: Marsala mushrooms on crostini, scallops with avocado chermoula, oysters rockerfeller: entree was much appreciated by all. Main course was heinously decadent. Brined barbequed turkey breast with orange sauce, medium-rare roast tenderloin stuffed with garlic and rosemary, roast garlic, beetroot, fennel, potatoes, Leek and roquefort bread pudding... YUM! The food was so outrageous that everyone was up for seconds before anyone had finished a single glass of the superb Darioush wine. Score one for Robbie!!
My pavlova worked a treat, the sounds of people moaning with pleasure were thoroughly muffled by the light and fluffy goodness they were shovelling into their mouths. Score one for me!!
I spent the night in my own room last night too, snuggled in between Robbie and Fish, and the bed was quite frankly marvellous. The West Sonoma Inn really knows how to spec a decent room. Thoroughly recommended!!
Time to go drink more wine.
