A quick note to anyone who owns a leather couch (or any other leather furniture)- would you *please* wash it now and again? Use a bucket of warm soapy water (use mild hand soap) and a sponge, and just wipe off the grease that builds up in the folds and creases. The reason for this is that the grease traps dirt and grit, which then chews through the leather. (If your leather has split in a crease it's most likely because it wasnt cleaned). Once or twice a year is fine. Finish up with a professional leather treatment if you're fancy or coloured shoe cream if you're smart.

This particular couch has been caught just in time. Some kind of animal was sleeping on it, and the oils and hair in the folds was quite foul. A couple of the creases had gone through the napa, but now it's clean I dont expect them to go any deeper.
