growler_southTonight was my first night at one of Urge's monthly hip-hop evenings. I was scarey backdoor bouncer (minds out of the gutter, people) and had to contend with hordes of hardened criminals trying to gain illegal entry. And by that, I mean a half dozen confused skaterboys and twinks who forgot to go to the front door.
It was a fun night! Anyone over the age of 35 felt out of place, especially the regulars who forgot the place had turned into nursery school, but were welcomed by the assembled hip-hopping kids as 'daddy!'. I caught my wandering eye following one particularly cute husky guy- only to discover that in addition to the big muscles and cute butt, 'he' also had breasts and a girlfriend. It's just so disorienting to have lesbians in Urge!
The music wasnt actually all that bad, and it was awesome to see a packed dancefloor. The eye candy was a little thin on the ground, being mostly lesbians and boys with attitude, but was definitely saved by Alan and Paul and the HOTTEST fuzzy pocketbear working behind the bar- later with his shirt off. Wuff!! Of course that left me by the back door to be molested by the older married guy who told me he was gay and had a boyfriend, but had previously told Loren he was married. Hint to people who come to New Zealand for the first time: its a small, small town, and lies get caught out very quickly.
And then 1am rolled around and I had to run away. The boys seemed to be coping, the crowd was thinning, and I had crunk and grime all over my pants from carrying bottles through the dance floor. I was up until 1am last night too, and I still have to work tomorrow. I'm going to be knackered!! but luckily I'm not working at Urge again until Saturday- that gives me tomorrow to recover.
