I've been drawing furniture again, lots and lots of simple, modular, but rather stylish wee pieces to fit in the new house. It may be time to go shopping for powertools and a workbench... especially now I have a workshop to work in.

I'm also thinking that when Erich arrives (Damn but it feels good to say that) it may be a good time to sell the bike and buy a proper car: not a $400 banger or wizzy classic, but a real grown-ups car. Something like a BMW 528iA/4, Mazda 6, R34 Skyline or Will Vs. We'll see...

Considered a Triumph Spitfire? They are excellent on gas mileage, still quite sporty, and you can usually find one for less than $3000. Something to consider.

I found the Spitfire's combination of swing axles and a chassis made of damp spaghetti was rather conducive to going sportily backwards into a hedge. If I was buying another wee classic I would consider an MG Midget or Austin-Healey Sprite the ultimate fun car- all the fun of a Spitfire, but with handling that wont leave you needing clean underwear.

Heh.. it's retro, I'll give it that, but 22mpg highway? Ouch!! And I hate to think how much it will cost down here... I'm thinking of spending no more than $12k.

Indeed... my current dictum is not to buy anything that gets less than 30mpg highway - preferably higher. ;)

FJ OMG WHAT?

Well Toyota has had some interesting styling periods in it's history.
But what the hell happened here??
A cross between a Hummer, an early 70's Landcruiser, and a boat.
See what happens when American designers go out to lunch with tha Japanese team & get pissed on Saki.

Let me know when you want to start designing furniture for our Art Deco house.

Let's hope the will of Will will win.

Why the Mazda 6 and not the Mazda 3?

The Skyline would be fun fun fun.

There's not much in it, but my thinking is that if I have a car just for long journeys and haulage, it may as well be something larger- and a 6 does handle and drive pretty much the same as a 3, just with a longer wheelbase.

The 6 is also a few years old now, meaning I could get one rather cheaply..
