Scarey moment alert!

My mate Richard was up from Christchurch for the weekend, and so I lent him the wee car. He was staying at a hotel, but was going to park the car at Alan and Paul's so I knew where it was and could use it if neccesary.

So I'm in Paul's car driving David and Harry around the city, when I spy this sherwood-tone MR2. Wow! It's in great nick, it's identical to mine. Including the license plate. Oh! It is mine. Hi Richard! Hi!! Hang on... when did Richard turn into a spotty teenager? OH MY GOD THERES A STRANGER DRIVING MY CAR.

Big screechy Starsky and Hutch style U-turn (right in front of the Central police station) and we're on my car's tail, dialing Richard.
G: "Hi Richard. Where's my car?"
R: "In the parking building?"
G: "Err, no, its being driven around town rather quickly by a teenager. I'm calling the police"
R: "Oh! No, it's in the *hotels* parking building, I had the valet park it like a minute ago, it must be the valet. What's he doing driving around town?!"
G: "I'd realy like to know the same. Thank god its not been stolen. Though from the way he's driving it I'm not sure..."

Scarey moment. Eeee!!

I hope you reported it stolen regardless. Even if it was a valet, that sort of shitheadism deserves an overnight trip to the cells.

What, and get him killed in the back of a police van just because I thought I'd teach him a lesson? No thanks, didnt work for Ian Ashley (or his son).

I take a very dim view of people mistreating MR2s without permission.

In this case, he would have come away not only with a severe bollocking and a written warning, but disappointed at the car's performance too- there's a new switch on the dashboard which turns the supercharger off... and it was definitely off when he drove it ;-)

I will reluctantly accept that as being sufficiently nasty. ;)

re: switch, that's one of the things I like about blowers over turbos. Sure with a turbo you can adjust the amount of boost at will, but you can't actually turn it off.
