Hood ornament from a Buick Plymouthmaster. Or something like that.

Big american cars dont really do it for me: I appreciate the style, and am frequently amazed at how over the top they are, but as cars? no thanks.

Today, however, Mike Binnis asked me to come along with him to the Kumeu hot rod show, and I managed to find something about big american cars I really, really like: the hot men that attend shows like the one at Kumeu.

A short roundup of more notable things after the cut:

A challenger, and a contender.

Ok, so some of the detailing was good.

Daddy was shooting pics of a car, while I shot pics of Daddy. Yum!

Cool. I want these on the MR2. not.

Yes. Cars attract hot men but they never come quietly.

I've not been the same since I attended the Queensland Truck Show for the same reason. Yum. And they are all attracted by the hardware so they don't notice that you are attracted to their hardware.

I'm with you on big cars in general; anything bigger than, say, a Toyota Avalon I tend to think of as a "Land Barge" - though it's especially apt for huge old Cadillacs and Lincolns and such.

not *all* classic American cars are over the top. Rambler (American Motors), for one, made cars that not only got great gas mileage (in some cases even for modern times) but where also reasonably sized, styled, and priced.

The Nash Metropolitan (American designed and build in England before Nash merged with Hudson to become American Motors) got around 40mpg in the 1950's.

And yep, car men are hot.

Present company most certainly included in that. DAMN Greg but if you keep getting studlier you'll all too soon be a menace to public morality!

And Grant, it goes without saying that even with all those hot men I'm sure you were the hottest at the car show...
