Thailand is FANTASTIC. I love the heat, its always around 30c even at night- aircon is nice inside and in the taxis but I dont mind wandering round outside either. I imagine Rick just melts when he's here.
14 hour plane flight was not pleasant- no room to stretch out in economy, but all the booze helped. So much so that one of the attendants was giving me cheek and saying "youll be wanting another.." I'm just ALL class sometimes.
We went to the grand palace yesterday, baking hot in the sun and breathtakingly gorgeous, absolutely amazing to see the sheer scale of the work. Every temple is clad, foundation to tip, in tiny reflective tiles, brass figures, gold leaf, or huge, intricately detailed murals. Its odd coming from a country with a very short history to one with tens of thousands of years of culture.
I could drive here, but I would need a small car at first. If you want to change lanes you just change lanes- everyone will get out of the way. Thousands of modern little 125 bikes- sporty wee pressed-frame scoots with road racer fairings, they go remarkably fast, we've seen a few going 120k ish... I'd love to bring one back to New Zealand, it would be great to ride around the city.
Telephone Bar is a lot of fun, we sat out the front and had a cigar, it was amusing to watch the bar opposite suddenly fill up with ogling and drooling tourists.
Its great to be on holiday with Morris, and Kevin is such a sweetie, but we're missing Rick, i would really love to be sharing this with him as well. I know there's plenty of time for us to do things together, but whenever I turn around to point out something cool I really notice that he's missing.
Theres plenty of time.
