I dont believe in birthdays. Not in a "I'm in denial about my age" kind of way, but in an "age doesnt matter" way. There were a few years there between 23-27 when I didnt actually rememeber how old I was- if someone asked I'd have to count up from 1974... Hence im not a big fan of birthday parties, big expensive gifts, or gushy birthday greetings. My ideal birthday would be relaxing with friends, with the occasional quiet "happy birthday" phonecall.

And this last weekend has been the most perfect birthday ever. Friday night was spent at the Sheraton between two snuggly bears, who abducted me on saturday and took me down to their house in the country, leaving me to amuse myself for the evening with the stereo, excessively proportioned television, DVD collection, and vast range of alcohol. Oh and a snuggly puppy :-D

And then later that night M came home and gave me my birthday present ;-) Ive never experienced anything quite so moving as having fantastic sex with a gorgeous man who, at midnight, pauses to lean forward, look into my eyes, and whisper "happy birthday"

Sunday mornign was spent lazing in bed, alternately snuggling, sleeping, and fending off the slobbery toys being poked in my face by the puppy... :-) A yummy breakfast out, some enjoyable time cluttering up R&M's office while they finished up some urgent work, and then getting to drive M's BMW back to Auckland.

*Note- Traction control is fantastic for acceleration but not so good for handling. Came round my favourite corner in my usual spirited manner, the front twitched and, anticipating the understeer, i gave it a bit more accelerator to break the back free- well, that was the theory, what actually happened was the traction control merely planted the extra power, causing the front to plough on in a spectacular understeery mess. You cant drive a BMW with traction control like you drive, say, a Piazza....*

Later that night we went to Dean's birthday party, which was also Annette's going-away party. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, with greenpeace members and radio stars and tattooed alternative types galore. I set M up comparing tattoos with lovely Louise and then I was free to socialise to my hearts content. Which lasted about an hour before M was horny again and wanted to go home ;-) That man's insatiable (but who's complaining)

Awoke this morning to a sweet SMS from R saying "Your a very special man, we wanted you to feel special this weekend" which was especially nice considering M was snoring quietly beside me :-)

Happy Birthday, mate - I noticed your post on the 'bearz' list and decided to add you. You have the distinction of being the first Kiwi on my friends list.

I had an amazing time in Auckland a year and a half ago, and hope to get back there someday.
