I'm having thoughts about underwear parties. Actually, I'm not really, I'm copy-pasting from previous posts concerning said parties, but its all in the name of publicity so its all good.

It's interesting that people who have heard about Urge's underwear parties, but have never attended one, presume that they're all sleazy and sexual. While I cant deny that squeezing through a crowd of hot, sweaty, mostly-naked men does have it's titillating side, the overwhelming response we get from punters (and why people just keep coming back) is that they felt so relaxed and at ease, even if they were initially nervous about showing their body in public.

Having everyone in their undies is a great leveller- no matter how fat/skinny/hairy/hairless you worry you are, there's always someone more fat/skinny/hairy/hairless in the room who is having a raving good time. The power of being part of a crowd means even the most shy punter soon relaxes and joins in.

And is the party -- like a nudist beach -- supposed to be an erection-free zone, or are you more tolerant about this particular etiquette?

You are in the US, right?

If it is anything like the underwear party at the Laird, in Melbourne, not only are erections encouraged, but use of those erections is encouraged too, with free condoms and lube.

Neither erections nor nudity are unlawful here, and being a gay bar we're not particularly offended by displays of either.

Sexual acts in public are, of course, verboten, though one could argue that the entire "sexual acts in public" law is based on the need to protect childrens' tiny, fragile minds, and that this doesnt apply in a bar where the minimum age of entry is above the age of consent. Nevertheless, if we see anything unlawful going on it is in our best interests as an upstanding community bar to put a stop to it. um, immediately.
