So after a month of trying to figure out why the glasswasher at Urge sometimes didn't do a spectacular job (checking the soap dispenser, filters, everything I could think of- not to mention having to check every glass to make sure it's clean before using it) I'm loading a tray into it last Saturday and wee Adam's watching me. And he says "Oh, do you have to press that button to get it to go?"

Is Adam a blonde by chance?

Now that you mention it, he is. But in his defense most commercial dishwashers I've used have started automatically when the door is closed! Glasswashers are different though...

True. Still, I'm assuming the start button is pretty obviously placed on the dishwasher?

Commercial dishwashers start when the door is closed, but they can sit with the door open and not be in the way. Glasswashers have a different type of door that is a pain if left open, so they dont start automatically.

Now, if only Adam had worked in kitchens with large commercial dishwashers, that might be a valid excuse...

Oh I'm well aware of the difference between a glass washer and the commercial dishwashers and quite frankly, even I noted the start button on the glass washer when I worked at a small place that had one to wash their dishes for it was a kitchen to a kinder care place I temped at 3 years ago.

I was briefly amused- before realising that I'd been tearing my hair out for a month for nothing. Grrr.

Lucky he's adorable.

It is quite noisy in that bar, isn't it? He couldn't tell nothing was happening.
