Prompted by the rapily-increasing price of petrol, plus the shortage of carparks here at work, I decided to start walking to work. Itll be good for my wallet and my skinny legs, and I liked the idea of doing something for the environment.

So this morning off I trotted, enjoying the warm breeze wafting off the motorway, the gentle sound of trucks flying by, the soft grass and crunchy broken glass underfoot. But I didnt mind, because I was doing my part for the environment.

Until some fucking evil black waspy thing landed on my arm, bit me or stung me, and flew away! Is that the thanks I get? or was it perhaps punishing me for all the times I've driven past, safe behind impervious steel and glass? Whatever it was, it still hurts and theres a big lump and a red splotch on my arm.

I'm driving tomorrow, and I hope that evil flying thing gets sucked into my engine and chewed up.

Wimp.

One little bug bite and you run wailing back to your petrol powered pacifier....

(tongue firmly in cheek -- just kidding, O Growly One....)

This is why the rest of us don't live in Australia. You deal with toxic or man-eating animals every day while the rest of us look on in horror.

Oh, yeah: You're cute!

oops, sorry, was still mentally linked to pa747sp. I thought NZ was refreshingly free of winged, toxic death.

And thats why I dont live in Australia either. Here in New Zealand we have precisely 3 toxic animals, theyre all spiders and quite rare, and I was unfortunate enough to be chomped by one of them.

Damn, i was too slow and you were too quick! Yes, we are largely free of nasty beasties round here. Feel free to wander down this way and check out how nice the local wildlife can be. Although I cant promise you wont get bitten ;-)

It's funny because in your pic I was thinking "that's so green, he must have been in New Zealand when that was taken." So I'm not a dope but I am dizzy as hell.

The kiwis had better watch out because I bite back, but usually I just use my beard.
