3 months travel insurance to the US only: $489 (after discounts)
12 months travel insurance to anywhere in the world including the US, on a frequent traveller plan: $560
Same coverage, except if you pay for a years frequent traveller you get to go anywhere in the world at any time without having to inform your insurer. One trip to OZ and I'm ahead.
Asleep yet?

Date: 2008-01-08 08:56 am (UTC)Just stick to these rules:
Deny alcohol/drug involvement [they legally cannot ask you to take a dope test. Ha!]
Tell them *all* your pre-existing medical conditions - anything you're getting ongoing treatment for or have had in the past 6 months. [Asthma would count, a cold wouldn't]
Keep all your doctors contact details handy
Make sure the Medical *and* dental cover is high - they usually cut off dental @ NZD1500 and even then a policy will usually only cover emergency relief of pain. [Shag a dentist & get it cheap!]
I can forward you a policy document tomorrow if you like?

Date: 2008-01-09 07:41 pm (UTC)See, my horrible american health insurance already pays for medical treatment abroad, because of our vastly superior healthcare system. It just doesn't pay for very much.
