growler_southAha!! I just figured out where California is. I always thought it was that peninsula on the left coast, you know, the one on the other side of the Gulf of California. But no! I now know that's actually Baja California, a part of Mexico. California is north of that, with only one coast. (How come California is so famous for its beaches when its only got one coast? odd.)

The American bit [which of course we stole from Mexico way back when] is Upper/Alta; the Mexican bit is Lower/Baja. And just as the USA is a federation of states; so is Mexico, which means there are two states down there: Baja California [BC] and Baja California Sur [BCS].
